Re-opening for worshiP
We have been the church scattered for more than four months and the time has come for us to once again be the church gathered. Yes, worship will be different than when last we gathered in the sanctuary, however, it essential that we comply with God’s word, “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”(Hebrews 10:25 KJV)
Frequently asked questions
Will attendees be required to wear a mask/face covering?
Each person entering the church on that Sunday must wear a mask or facial covering.
Will temperature checks be administered before entry?
Yes. Each person entering the church must be willing to have his/her temperature checked.
Will persons administering temperature checks wear personal protective equipment?
Yes.
Will sanitizers be available?
Sanitizing dispensers will be strategically placed around the church and sanctuary.
How will social distancing be maintained?
Seating will be organized to meet the requirements for six feet of social distancing required by the NYSDOH. Alternate pews will be used. At the direction of an usher/host, each person will be directed to a seat providing for six feet of distance from the next person.
Persons residing in the same household will be encouraged to sit together.
Where are the Bibles and Hymnals?
In order to limit the sharing of materials, all Bibles and Hymnals will be removed from the pews. You are encouraged to BYOB – Bring Your Own Bible.
Will we have choirs as before?
The presence of choirs and the practice of congregational singing has been strongly discouraged because of the increased possibility of transmitting the virus through singing. We are hoping to have small, four to six-person musical ensembles, who will be individually mic’ed, and physically distanced.
Will elevator services be available?
Our elevator will operate between the first floor and second floors and the lower level only. All other areas of the church building will be closed to public access.
Will there be access to restroom facilities?
If there are persons seated in the balcony, we will ask that they use the restroom facilities on the 2nd floor; persons seated in the sanctuary will be asked to please use the restroom facilities on the lower level.
Is there the possibility, going forward, of having two services on Sunday?
We are certainly considering that possibility; your response to a forthcoming survey will help to make that decision.
