Upper Room Service

At Salem Missionary Baptist Church, as followers of Jesus Christ, we remember and commemorate the Last Supper every year on the Maundy Thursday night service, which is the night before Good Friday.

After the Thursday night regular service, everyone who signed up for the Last Supper Service ascends to James E. Thompson Auditorium (The Upper Room). We are seated orderly at candlelit tables with the last supper prepared meal. The Pastor and selected individuals read selected scriptures and hymns are sung. We eat of the Lamb representing the sacrifice, the bread representing the body, the bitter herbs representing the suffering, and the bitterness of the time, the egg representing the hardness of life; we drink of the wine, which represents His blood, all in remembrance of our Savior’s sacrifice for us.
